Christian
We pass on our rich and deep heritage to our students.
Only a Christian education is a true education. Schools often talk about educating the “whole person”. But what is a person? A person bears God’s image and likeness. Only by knowing God can we know what a person is.
Only a Christian education instructs students in their purpose. There are many ways in which to know a thing. We can know (1) what a thing is made of, (2) how it is structured, (3) how it was made, and (4) its purpose. Consider a table. It can be made of oak, be a 6’ x 4’ rectangle, and assembled using hand tools. But what is it for? What is its right use? Secular education, by definition, cannot answer questions of purpose. The right use or misuse of a table might be of little importance, but consider the mouth. We can learn about its various parts and how they come together to produce speech, but what is the mouth for? Christianity can explain the right use and the misuse of the mouth, as well as that of the body, money, time, etc., but secularism, because it rejects ideas of essence and purpose, can give no answer to such important questions.
Practically, what does it mean to provide our children with a Christian education? We want our kids to know and love God, to see the world from His perspective, and to live their lives in obedience to Him. Everything we do, from who we hire to the curricula we use, is done in an attempt to further this goal.
